Progressive Leasing, in collaboration with other partners in the area, has a mission to serve underserved and underrepresented communities by helping high potential students near the West Valley City area gain education and workplace readiness skills with an emphasis on technology. We strive to empower students to overcome the structural barriers that typically limit upward socio-economic mobility. We will accomplish this through life skills and workplace readiness training, technology certifications, guidance on college preparedness and completion, placement in competitive internships or mentorships, and comprehensive support to participants and alumni to help students foster professional relationships.

We are looking for the right leader who is passionate about working with young people and enabling the next generation of technology professionals, has demonstrated experience to guide the center’s team through the journey from start up to sustainability, and believes in a collaborative environment where team members can have fun while doing great work. (We are more interested in what you’ve actually done and who you are over what titles you have held.)

As Executive Director, you will be responsible for developing the strategic plan identifying the center’s goals, overseeing the development of processes and procedures for a successful center, and ultimately creating opportunities for individuals to realize their educational dreams. It is essential that our ED has shared lived experience, represents and reflects the West Valley City community, and understands the unique challenges faced by those marginalized among us.

How will we measure success? In the realization of a young person’s dream: from potential high school dropout to graduating high school > preparing for college including admission and financial aid application > earning college credit while developing tech skills > completing an internship > graduating college > obtaining full-time employment > sharing learned financial and digital skills with family and others in their sphere of influence.

The work of the Executive Director includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development and Planning
    • In collaboration with the Foundation Board, staff and other key stakeholders, the ED develops the Foundation’s impact vision and strategic plans to achieve that vision
    • The ED will be responsible for overseeing or directly working with partners to scope the work, clarify necessary resources, and then ensuring partners are tracking and regularly reporting on the results of their respective initiatives
    • Identifies and monitors trends and emerging philanthropic and community issues which impact the underserved, to develop recommendations and set priorities that inform the Prog Foundation Tech Center focus
    • Establish and track metrics of success of programs and initiatives
  • Community Relations Focused on the Underserved
    • Operate with an external focus and a bias for impact
    • Proactively develop and maintain relationships with organizations who need help, providing education in understanding the Foundation’s interests, mission, and concerns. In return, developing a sound understanding of the challenges and issues the community is faced with
  • Organization Management
    • Determine and recommend the necessary resources to achieve the Prog Foundation Tech Center goals and mission. Manages the Prog Foundation Tech Center team and collaborate with Progressive Leasing People Team to integrate programs in the recruitment, development and outreach strategy for Prog Employees
    • Develop and recommend to the Board the relevant staffing plan for the work to be completed
  • Oversee and Collaborate with Program Managers to:
    • Grow partnerships with WVC and area high schools
    • Grow partnerships with colleges, universities, corporate, business, and nonprofit organizations that provide internships, mentorships, resources, and funding
    • Expand program offerings
    • Nurture a culture of integrity with internal and external relationships, developing and maintaining open lines of communication
    • Lead from the heart and show up for the individuals we’ll serve and the unpredictable needs of this start up project
  • Financial Management
    • Recommend yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manage Prog Foundation Tech Center resources within those budget guidelines
  • Administrative Management
    • Lead and oversee the administrative components of the Prog Foundation Tech Center, including contracts, consultants, partners. Works with the Progressive Leasing legal counsel to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in all aspects of the operations
    • Work with the Foundation Board to develop policies as needed to support the Prog Foundation Tech Center
    • Manage overall operations, marketing, and communications to ensure the success of the center

IMMEDIATE PRIORITIES INCLUDE

  • Lead a collaborative process with the staff and stakeholders to capture, operationalize, activate, and evaluate a short- and long-term strategic vision and growth plan
  • Guide the creation of administrative systems and build organizational capacity centered on effectively and efficiently serving the population utilizing the center
  • Collaborate with the Foundation Board to develop and implement an annual operating budget in alignment with program budgets and needs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years relevant leadership in education, youth services, college and career access, workforce development, or human services organizations required
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including youth and young adults
  • A strong connection to, and deep understanding of, the communities we’ll serve - either personally or professionally
