Regulatory Relations & Reporting Director

The Progressive Compliance Team is seeking a Regulatory Relations & Reporting Director to work in a fast-growing virtual Lease-to-Own industry.  This individual owns the end-to-end regulatory exam management process.  This includes responding to federal and state regulatory inquires, including but not limited to examinations, requests, investigations, and audits.  In addition, the individual will be the liaison to coordinate a cross functional regulatory response team under the direction of the Compliance Department.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own end-to-end regulatory exam management process
  • Coordination of regulatory findings tracking and communications/interactions with regulators
  • Coordinate a cross-functional regulatory response team to respond to inquiries in a timely fashion; act as a liaison between regulators, the Compliance Department and various business units
  • Develop and provide appropriate responses to regulatory inquires
  • Conduct informational interviews and gather data from relevant employees and business units
  • Coordinate the gathering, storing and submission of materials, facts and data
  • Prepare timely written responses in the format preferable to governmental authorities
  • Organize additional communications and meetings with regulators as necessary
  • Coordinate and ensure the validation of data to ensure its accuracy upon submission
  • Maintain accurate records of regulatory interactions and responses
  • Develop and produce monthly management and committee reporting on the status of regulatory findings and interactions; provide additional ad-hoc reporting as needed
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and trends, particularly with respect to consumer protection
  • Validate/verify completion of action plans across the company and ensure records are properly retained

Minimum Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and editing skills
  • Ability to understand complex information and simplify for consumption by outsiders
  • Ability to work with data and data analytics tools
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to track overlapping examinations and actions plans
  • Ability to identify obstacles and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong track record of holding deliverable-owners accountable and influencing others without direct authority
  • Experience with formal reporting to management and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a team environment and a manifestation of strong support for the business goals of the organization
  • Strong previous experience in regulatory compliance or related fields
  • Prior regulatory experience/interactions, particularly with respect to handling inquires (e.g. CFPB, FTC, federal or state banking examiners, state regulators, etc.) or in responding to subpoenas or investigations
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements (UDAP/UDAAP, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA/TSR etc.)

The following, while not required, are a strong plus:

  • Prior work for a regulatory agency or Compliance department
  • Familiarity with the state-by-state Lease/Rent-to-Own (RTO) statutory regime
