Progressive Leasing is hiring a Senior Director, Government Affairs (Remote). Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be part of the Legal Department. In this position you will utilize your extensive experience working in diverse legislative and government environments. You will be responsible for managing complex projects, as well as helping the Company navigate regulatory and policymaking challenges. You will own and be responsible for all government affairs operations throughout the Company’s significant national footprint, including serving as the primary point of contact for local, state, and federal policymakers and regulators.

This role can be performed remotely anywhere in the US or from one of our office locations in Draper, UT or Glendale, AZ.

THE DETAILS

A key to your success will be to cultivate and maintain stakeholder relationships, manage on-the-ground contractors, coordinate government affairs assets, and execute on all of the Company’s legislative priorities, encompassing a wide range of policy issues, including taxation, sales and marketing restrictions, retailer relations, and general business issues. At a high level, you will have to quickly analyze complex political and legislative situations, assess opportunities, and pivot when change is necessary, while simultaneously building trusted relationships with policymakers and their staff in multiple states (includes Washington, D.C.).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and manage the alignment of corporate priorities with evolving laws and regulations 
  • Create and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy by state with an emphasis on advocating a proactive pro-business agenda
  • Analyze and prepare comprehensive reports for internal teams on relevant existing and proposed regulations and laws at federal and state levels
  • Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with key policymakers within local, state, and federal governments
  • Proactively research policy trends or proposed changes that could be either advantageous or negatively impact the Company
  • Develop a strategic plan to address offensive or defensive opportunities
  • Liaise with industry partners to build coalitions for advancing shared policy priorities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 9+ years' experience in Government Affairs
  • Proven track record of successful people management
  • Experience drafting and passing legislation at the state or federal level
  • Experience coordinating projects and communicating with target audiences across a large geographical footprint
  • Deep comprehension and experience in the legislative and executive decision-making process
  • Advanced understanding of how politics impacts policy
  • Ability to interface effectively as well as build/maintain strong relationships across multiple business units within the Company
  • Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to persuasively present information
  • Exceptional professionalism and comfortable working with confidential situations and C-level executives 
  • Ability and desire to travel regularly within the United States to support the Company’s policy objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE

  • Direct experience lobbying governments or agencies
  • Exposure to consumer protection and consumer advocacy
  • Advertising compliance knowledge
  • Familiarity with the Trade Association
  • Financial services background
  • Advance experience with business environments and technologies 
  • Law degree or Master's Degree in a related field
