Progressive Leasing is seeking an experienced Senior Enterprise Monitoring Engineer (Remote). The ideal candidate will have the necessary knowledge and expertise to help us monitor, measure, and report on the performance, availability, and capacity of our industry leading SaaS products. In this role, you will work closely with other infrastructure and software engineers to identify KPIs and how to evaluate them effectively. You will share responsibility for the design, implementation, and support of our expanding virtual and physical monitoring ecosystem spanning several diverse offices, private data centers, and public clouds.

This role can be performed remotely anywhere in the US or from one of our office locations in Draper, UT or Glendale, AZ.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the selection, installation, configuration, and support of all enterprise monitoring tools and systems
  • Provide thought leadership to develop monitoring best practices and preferred methods
  • Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to identify service dependencies and KPIs
  • Ensure thorough capacity, health, and security monitoring is present at every layer of the platform and application stack
  • Focus on the delivery of prescriptive/automated monitoring for all critical systems and services
  • Work closely with stakeholders and support teams to document, publish, and report on SLAs
  • Help drive the adoption of our CMDB leverage it to facilitate thorough monitoring coverage
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend architectural improvements and new technologies
  • Work in highly virtualized public and private cloud environments
  • Use configuration management and orchestration tools to rapidly deploy and manage highly consistent/prescriptive systems and services
  • Utilize ITIL concepts and how to apply them effectively in the enterprise
  • Generate excellent documentation/diagrams and recognize the importance
  • Act as a collaborative service provider to our internal and external customers
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and lead by example
  • Think “Enterprise” and understand that every delivered solution must be consistent, redundant, standards compliant, well monitored, and thoroughly documented

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an information technology related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of enterprise monitoring, systems engineering, and/or devops experience in a customer facing/supporting SaaS environment 
  • Thorough, working knowledge of continuous integration and delivery in the Agile context
  • Experience supporting a large (>1000 employee), fast-paced, always-on, enterprise technology organization
  • Windows Server (2012 R2, 2016, 2019) and Linux (CentOS / RHEL 7 & 8) SRE skill level
  • Virtualization (VMWare) and containerization (Docker / Kubernetes) proficiency
  • DevOps skillset with emphasis on Bash, Python, PHP, and Powershell scripting
  • Experience with most or all of the following monitoring-related applications and technologies: APM - Application Insights, Dynatrace, Uptrends; NMS - Icinga2, Nagios, SentryOne, SolarWinds, Veeam One, Zabbix; Logging - Graylog, ElastiSearch, Splunk, Syslog(-ng)
  • Experience deploying, instrumenting, and supporting TSDBs at scale with InfluxDB or Prometheus
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow (or similar CMS / SKMS) including the Event Management module
  • Experience administering Grafana (or similar presentation layer), including developing and maintaining high-value, actionable, monitoring dashboards
  • Knowledge of instrumenting APM solutions against C#, AngularJS, Node.js, and .NET Core web apps
  • Experience using orchestration and configuration management tools like Ansible & SaltStack
  • Thorough understanding of common protocols and services, including DHCP, DNS, FTP(S), HTTP(S), LDAP, SIP, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, TCP, and UDP

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE

  • Experience with F5 load balancers and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Superior active listening with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to learn and grow through self-study
